Job Description: The Bilingual Victim Advocate (VA) is a member of WestCOP, Inc./Victims Assistance Services program who works as part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team at the Child Protective Services White Plains office. The BVA is responsible for the provision of direct services to victims of crime. Services include: assistance in applying for victim compensation; court accompaniment; forensic exam accompaniment; supportive counseling; safety planning; assistance locating shelters; advocacy with multiple service providers to maximize the clients resources and capacity to heal. Candidate should be interested in being a part of a cohesive team, receiving regular supervision and should be capable of collaborating both within and outside of the agency.
Specific Education, Certification and Skill Requirements (if applicable): Highly motivated, self-starter with strong commitment to advocating for the rights of victims of crime and children. Background in social justice, criminal justice, women’s issues, and/or counseling. Bilingual (Spanish-English) required. BSW/MSW preferred. Computer literate; licensed driver and car owner.
